Power restored in Chatham

More than 600 businesses and homes in and around Chatham High Street left without electricity yesterday, have had their power restored.

About 612 properties were affected by the cut which occured at 12.25pm on Monday afternoon.

It is believed the interruption was caused by a fault on an underground cable.

More than 220 customers had power restored within 50 minutes of the interruption and another 320 had electricty by about 1.30pm.

The remaining 70 EDF customers were reconnected by 7.15pm.

An EDF spokeswoman said: "We appreciate how difficult it is to be without power and apologise for any inconvenience.

"We would like to thank our customers for their patience."
