At just 15-months-old Joshua Blew may be the youngest person ever to cross the London marathon finish line.

He was waiting in the crowd outside Buckingham Palace on Sunday for his father to come past when he found himself being carried down the home straight on his father’s shoulders.

Adam Blew said: “I knew my family would be there, that was keeping me going. I’m not sure if I was allowed to, I just didn’t think about it at all and just popped him on my shoulders.

“He got a great response, it was on the big screens and the crowd’s reaction was amazing.”

It was the third time the 34-year-old from Hoo had taken part in the event and he finished in 4hrs 38mins.

He said: "I was disappointed with my time but once I knew my 4:20 target had gone, I took my ear phones out and just listened to the crowds and focused on reaching my family and carrying my son over the line.

"Hopefully one day we will do it together."

The personal trainer added: “Other than marrying my wife and my son’s birth, carrying Joshua down the finish line was one of the proudest moment of my life.”

Adam was running on behalf of Family Action, a charity which supports families going through tough times.

He chose the charity as it is where his wife Sarah Blew, 29, works and he has raised around £1,200 so far.

It was the third time Adam has taken part in the London Marathon

He said: "Family Action work with some of the UK’s most vulnerable children and families, helping them to tackle complex issues such as parental mental health problems, extreme poverty, domestic abuse and being a young carer.

"They help them to make practical changes to make them safer, stronger and more optimistic about their futures.

"Having started a new family ourselves this year and realise how precious a family bond is, and knowing what the charity does, I think they need all the support possible."
