Rainham building evacuated after gas leak

A building was evacuated after a car hit a gas pipe in Holding Street, Rainham causing a leak.

The road was closed for a short time at about 11.10am today (Friday).

Police went when a bystander reported the crash.

A spokesman for Medway Police, said:“Gas was seeping in to a nearby building, which had to be evacuated."

The road was closed at 11.10am. sent a representative to isolate the gas supply.

The road was reopened at 11.25am.
