A boot fair and raffle this Sunday is raising money for Help for Heroes in memory of soldier Lee Rigby.

The fundraiser is being organised by the Fallow Management Company, after the original idea came from employee Dave Thomas, who was inspired to do something following Drummer Rigby's tragic death.

Businesses in the area have donated prizes for the raffle and products for the stall, being held at the Greenfields bootfair at Beechings Way, Gillingham.

Tracey Scott Fox, managing director at Fallow Management Company based in Rainham, said the idea had got a great response so far. Even the pitch they’re using has been donated for the day, along with a free bouncy castle.

Gates will be open from about 5am Sunday morning, and run until around midday. The fundraising stall will have a Fallow Management banner and Help for Heroes buckets.

Around 30 prizes are on offer, including a family photo session with Rachel Edwards Photography, a spring clean from the Fallow Management Company, and a top-of-the-range sander donated by Lakeside Timber.

All money raised will go to Help for Heroes, a charity dedicated to providing better facilities for wounded British servicemen and women.

Lee Rigby was wearing a Help for Heroes shirt when he was attacked and killed in Woolwich last week.

Flowers left at the war memorial in Rainham for Lee Rigby

Meanwhile, flowers have been placed at war memorials across Medway following Drummer Rigby's death. Floral tributes have been placed at Gillingham War Memorial, Rainham War Memorial and the war memorial in Rochester High Street.

One card, left at Rainham, read: "RIP young man. May your family find the strength to carry on."
