A road that was blocked all weekend by trees battered by snowfall, has reopened.

Around 200 trees were felled in Walderslade Woods Road, in Walderslade, Chatham and the route had been closed since Friday night.

Tree surgeons from Direct Enviro Services worked tirelessly over the weekend, to clear the way.

Tree surgeon Sam Gray and the team from Direct Enviro Services are still working to clear Walderslade Woods Road (6931298)

Gritters got to work on the road yesterday evening and it was reopened at 10pm last night.

Road conditions seem to be in the 'green' safe zone, with surfaces set to remain above 1 degree.

The tree surgeons are due back on site to remove any remaining debris and twigs in the road.

Youngsters from Walderslade will be delighted to know they get to spend an extra day in the snow.

Tunbury Primary School, in Tunbury Avenue, is closed today due to the adverse weather conditions.

Abandoned cars are still stranded on Walderslade Woods Road (6931286)

On its website the school said: "Having risk assessed the site today, we feel that it is in the best interests of all stakeholders that the school remains closed, while we make the site safe for the week ahead. "

It hopes to re-open tomorrow.
