Robbery in Gillingham

Two men who robbed a petrol station in Gillingham are being hunted by police.

Detectives are appealing for information following the raid at the Shell petrol station in Nelson Road, just before 10am today (Wednesday).

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Two men entered the shell petrol station and once inside they pushed over a member of security staff carrying a cash box, picked up the box and fled the scene.

“It is not yet known how much money was inside the box.

The men were both wearing high visibility jackets and are of black Caribbean appearance.

They are both about 30 years old.

“They left the petrol station and ran onto Napier Road where they got into a small white or silver car, possibly a Kia Picanto and drove off.

“No-one was hurt in the incident and no weapons were used.”
