A suspected crack house in Rochester has been closed down by police.

Magistrates have granted a three-month order banning anyone from entering the High Street property.

Police said residents had made allegations it was associated with drug abuse, disorder and nuisance.

Officers presented a case to Medway magistrates on Tuesday.

The crack house closure order means it is an offence for anyone to enter the property for three months.

It has been boarded up and a sign placed on the door.

PC Bryan Ward, Medway drugs liaison officer, said: “Kent Police does not tolerate drug abuse.

"It can have a huge impact on communities, with those taking illegal substances and leaving drugs paraphernalia causing fear and threatening residents' safety.

"Officers in Medway responded to concerns that a property in the High Street was being used by people to deal or take drugs by submitting a closure order.

"The aim is to reduce the use of drugs in the area, as well as anti-social behaviour caused by drug abuse.

"Officers are dedicated to reducing drugs use in Medway and will continue to consider further closure orders for properties persistently associated with drug abuse."
