TWO art exhibitions inspired by Romany culture are going on display in Rochester this weekend.

The first show by Cas Holmes combines recycled materials with digital photographic techniques and methods adapted from Japanese textiles, textile art and papermaking.

Her work is based on personal experiences, places she has visited, stories of her Romany grandmother and old forgotten textiles.

It takes place at at Rochester Craft Case at the visitor centre, High Street, Rochester.

Cas’ exhibition is accompanied by one by Edwina Jacques entitled Many Paths.

The exhibition is the culmination of months of research, travel and the resultant relationships with members of the travelling community in Medway.

The exhibition features sculptural book forms which capture the essence of Romany culture. Sculptures and paintings representing Romany people are on show in Rochester Cathedral.

Entrance to both exhibitions is free. They run from this Saturday, until Sunday, November 25.
