Man charged after roof drama at Chatham railway station that disrupted train services across Kent

A man who caused delays across Kent after climbing onto the roof at Chatham railway station has been charged by police.

A black-clothed figure was spotted in a precarious position at around 3.20pm yesterday leading to the area being locked down by emergency services.

Passengers and staff had to be evacuated leaving hundreds standing outside the station.

Lucas Nurden, 21 of Chancel Drive, Wainscott, near Rochester, was later arrested and people were eventually allowed back inside just after 5.30pm.

He has been charged with obstructing the railway, criminal damage and a public order offence.

He is due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 19.
