A busy working mum has completed her marathon challenge of completing a trio of races on three consecutive Sundays.

Lisa Samwell, 38, had been in training for months to complete the Brighton, Manchester and London Marathons in memory of her mum Ronny.

By completing the three marathons, Miss Samwell’s was hoping to raise £3,500 for a trio of charities.

She ran the Brighton Marathon on April 12 in six hours and 22 minutes in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital, in London.

Then on Sunday, April 19, she travelled to Manchester to compete in the marathon there for Cancer Research UK, finishing in less than five and a half hours.

Her run yesterday (Sunday) in London, was in aid of Haven Breast Cancer Support Centres, which offer practical support, counselling and therapies to cancer suffers.

Her inspiration for challenge was her mother Ronny, who died five years ago of pneumonia, aged 59, after suffering from breast and bone cancer.

Miss Samwell, of Upnor, has a seven-year-old daughter Isabelle, said: “I don’t feel too bad.

“My knees feel tight and a blister has grown overnight, but I am recovering well.

“A had a massage and a cuppa with Haven afterwards and that helped loads

“My provisional time is five hours 50 minutes and it was very tough but I loved every minute of it.

“During the last few miles I gave everything I had to the point I couldn’t give no more.

“I plan on doing another in October, this could be the beginning of something!

I sill have some fundraising to do to reach my target and that’s why I am organising the charity evening but Isabelle is happy as she gets to see more of me now.

“I’ve missed her these last few weekends as she has been with her dad, so we’re doing something extra nice this weekend.”

Miss Samwell, has so far raised about £1,500 so is also hosting a charity evening at Lordswood Leisure Centre on Friday, July 3, to boost her fundraising efforts.

Tickets cost just £10, for more information email lisasamwell@yahoo.co.uk
