A Gillingham man has appeared in court accused of raping a woman.

Sean Robinson, of Balmoral Road, is charged with two counts of raping a woman aged 16 or over.

The 38-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, February 7.

He was arrested by police investigating a reported sexual assault believed to have taken place at an address in Balmoral Road overnight last Monday.
