Police and the coastguard are still searching for a man who was seen jumping from a bridge yesterday evening.

The unidentified male plunged into the River Medway from the Medway Bridge at 4.30pm resulting in a closure of the London-bound M2 between junctions 3 for Chatham and 2 for Strood until around 5.20pm.

But despite some reports stating otherwise, police have confirmed the search is ongoing this morning.

Police, ambulances, fire crews and lifeboats were seen by the water at Medway Valley Leisure Park, near the Cineworld cinema while a helicopter was spotted hovering over Cuxton and the Medway Valley area.
