It’s having a knock-on effect for traffic in around the A2, Strood High Street and Medway City Estate.

Medway Council has said that the road closure “is in place due to emergency gas repairs” and diversions have been set up.

Gas company SGN began the repair works yesterday at 6.45 pm and the works are expected to last until July 7.

Meanwhile Medway Bus Passenger Group has posted to say the 191 bus service is facing long delays and cancellations.

They say that it is taking 70 minutes between Wainscott and Strood against a normal journey time of 10 minutes.
