There's still time for your group or organisation to get a slice of £30,000 from the Medway Cares community scheme – but your application has to be in by Sunday.

Medway Community Healthcare has cash available after becoming a community interest company with an annual budget of £50million.

As a social enterprise, it can use its surplus to develop services and to invest in community projects.

Schemes can apply for community awards up to £10,000 by submitting plans on how much money is needed and how it would be spent.

The awards will fund Medway community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations working with children and young people, and those with a learning disability or older people.

They cannot be used to fund individuals, national organisations with established funding and substantial reserves or research.

Martin Riley, Medway Community Healthcare’s managing director, said: "The cash awards will support groups who help people in the local community.

"If you are in one of these groups, I would encourage you to apply and let us help you make a difference."
