Stolen catalytic converters were found when police stopped a van last night.

Kent Police Roads tweeted that officers had stopped a vehicle in Strood linked to a "sus event".

Catalytic converters and tools linked to their theft were found inside, the tweet added.

A Kent Police spokesman later said: "Shortly before midnight officers from the Kent Police’s Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle travelling in Cuxton Road, Rochester, due to suspicions it was involved in the theft of catalytic converters.

"A 20-year-old man from Rainham was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft and going equipped to steal. He remains in custody as enquiries continue."
