Suspected Gillingham burglar arrested after Strood break-in

A suspected burglar has been arrested after a house was broken into.

The man from Gillingham was reported to have been seen breaking into a house in Brompton Lane, Strood through the back door.

Police were alerted to the suspected burglary in progress around 4.30pm on Sunday.

Officers responded and on arrival saw a man matching the description of the suspect near the property.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and when searched he was found to have stolen items on him confirmed as belonging inside the house.

The 22-year-old, from Gillingham, was taken to Medway Police Station.

He has since been bailed until March 4 while inquiries continue.
