Three teenagers have appeared in court accused of putting train passengers at risk after they allegedly threw debris on the track.

They were charged after youths were seen on CCTV cameras throwing items on tracks at Higham Railway Station.

A 17-year-old boy, who lives in Chatham, a 15-year-old boy, from Higham, both who cannot be named for legal reasons, and Troy Willis, 18, of Dombey Close, Higham, have all been charged with endangering the safety of people being conveyed on a railway.

They allegedly threw items on the track on December 23, and appeared before magistrates in Medway earlier this week where the bench heard the incident led to a train having to come to a halt in front of the debris but was not derailed and no one was injured.

They did not enter any pleas and the case was adjourned to allow one to seek legal advice.

They will next appear at the same court on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 14, when it is expected the case against them will go ahead.

All were granted bail.
