Three suspicious grassland fires in Heron Way, Princes Park, Chatham.

Firefighters were called out to three grassland blazes in the same area in one afternoon.

The fires are being treated as suspicious after crews from Medway were called to Heron Way in Princes Park, Chatham three times yesterday.

At 2pm, 5pm, and 6.30pm they arrived to the park to find public grassland alight in 40 square metre chunks.

One of the crews who attended said: "It took us about 40 minutes to put out each of the fires. They covered quite a large area. They are suspicious fires and the police have been informed."
