There was traffic gridlock after five cars were involved in an accident in the Medway Tunnel.

Police were called to the Gillingham stretch of the tunnel shortly before 9am on Monday.

Initial reports suggested two cars had collided, but officers later said five cars were involved.

One person was injured, but it is not clear how seriously. Motorists faced traffic delays on the Strood side of the tunnel.
