Emergency services were called to a railway line following concern for the welfare of a woman.

The power was switched off between Strood and Maidstone West, which led to delays on the Medway Valley line.

Southeastern tweeted at 6.35pm yesterday (August 4) about the incident and power was switched back on at around 7pm.

A transport police spokesman said: "Officers were called to the line in Aylesford shortly before 6pm last night following concern for the welfare of a woman.

"Officers attended and conducted a search of the area with the assistance of the National Police Air Service, and a woman was located and taken to a place of safety."
