Trains have been delayed or cancelled after a person trespassed onto the tracks at Chatham this morning.

The main delays have been between Rochester and Gillingham on the Southeastern line, but passengers have reported cancelled trains heading to Ashford and Canterbury West.

The lines have now re-opened and trains are getting back to normal, but knock-on delays are expected.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called to the line close to Chatham station shortly after 10.30am to reports of a trespasser on the line.

"Colleagues from Kent Police also attended, and a search of the area was carried out. No trespasser has been found. Enquiries are ongoing."
