Trains between Maidstone West and Strood were halted for a time this morning due to a trespasser on the line at Cuxton.

The emergency services were called out to the railway station in Station Road in the village at around 9am after the person got onto the tracks.

It is not clear if anyone was injured.

Kent's rail operator will team up with Network Rail. Library image.

The power on the lines was turned off while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

Services had resumed by 9.30am.

However, Southeastern said the incident would cause delays to later services during the morning.
