Tree on historic site in Chatham saved from developers

Trees on a historic site look likely to be saved after an 11th hour change was forced on public officials.
The Medway Renaissance team has drawn a bus station plan for Chatham waterfront after the original one was thrown out by planning councillors some weeks ago.
The bus station has to be approved and built before the Government demands unspent cash is returned to the Exchequer in 2011.
Sixteen trees will be saved.
Last night (Wednesday) councillors met to dsicuss it before the new plan goes before the cabinet next month.
