The family of a recovery driver who was hit and killed by a lorry on the M25 say he will be sorely missed.

Steven Godbold, 52, was struck as he stood on the hard shoulder while responding to a broken down car on the motorway near Sevenoaks last Friday.

He died at the scene.

In a statement released today, his family said: "In the early hours of Friday 22nd September 2017 on the M25, a tragic incident happened where Steven Godbold was taken from us.

"Steven was loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.

"We request that our privacy be respected whilst we come to terms with our loss."

Mr Godbold died after the green Scania articulated lorry collided with another vehicle between junction 5 for the M26 and 4 for Orpington at around 6.15am.

He was not inside his vehicle at the time.

A 42-year-old man from Gravesend was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been released pending further inquiries.
