Two appear in court over double stabbing

Two men have appeared in court in connection with a double stabbing in Medway.

Warren Paul Bennett, 28, of Upper Luton Road, Chatham, pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Richard Peter Mumford, 28, also of Upper Luton Road, pleaded guilty to the same charge and will be sentenced at a later date.

The charges relate to an incident in Upper Luton Road in the early hours of Sunday, December 20.

Two men, one a 21-year-old, were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital suffering from stab wounds.

Two women arrested in connection with the incident were released without charge.

Both Bennett and Mumford appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, March 26, and were remanded into custody.

A trial date for Bennett has been set for June 21, at the same court.
