A two car crash brought traffic to a standstill on the M2 London-bound carriageway earlier this morning.

The crash happened between Junction 3 for Chatham and Junction 2 for Strood, but it is not thought anyone has been seriously injured

One motorist who got on at Chatham said he had been sitting in his car on the carriageway at a complete standstill for at least 20 minutes.

Tailbacks have now started to ease.

The man, who didn’t want to be named, said: “All lanes were solid and not moving.

“I was sat there at a standstill for at least 20 minutes, I think the traffic was held back.”

It is thought the crash happened at about 11.30am and by about 12.20pm traffic was said to be moving again as the damaged cars had been moved to the hard shoulder.
