Winter playground for kids but police warn drivers: Don't go out

A robin in snowy weather

Children across Medway were waking up excitedly to a blanket of snow across the Towns this morning.

But police were warning motorists only to make 'essential journeys' after up to four inches fell overnight. Although no more is forecast today, temperatures will remain below freezing, causing hazardous conditions.

Medway Council have had gritters and snow ploughs out since dawn. Supermarkets experienced last-minute panic buying yesterday as people rushed to stock up before the snow arrived.

Sport was wiped out across the region, including Gillingham's match against Hereford at Priestfield.

Let us have your snow stories and pictures. Leave comments here or email medwaymessenger@thekmgroup.co.uk or you can text picturesby texting Medway followed by your message to 87474 charged at your standard network rate.
