Chatham man, 71, appears in court after woman wakes to find alleged intruder in bedroom

A 71-year-old alleged sexual predator has appeared in court after a woman woke to find a man prowling in her bedroom.

The suspected intruder was detained by the woman's relative until police arrived after she raised the alarm at the property in Chatham in the early hours of Saturday.

David Tyler, of Wyles Road, Chatham, has been charged with trespassing on premises with the intention of committing a sexual offence and sexually touching a woman without consent.

He was arrested at the scene following the incident at 2.15am on March 20.

Tyler was taken into custody and charged the same day.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on April 19.
