“I don’t like football,”one little girl groaned to her mum as she entered the school gates with a flag round her arms, red socks with a bow and England flags on her face.

Everyone has got football fever.

Delce Academy was one of several schools across the Medway Towns to celebrate ahead tonight’s semi-final game.

Wearing red and white dresses, England kits, carrying flags and painting red flags on their socks, the children were ready for the team’s biggest game of the tournament.

The Discoverers in reception class have written good luck letters to the team and been practising England anthem Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home).

Five-year-old Faith wrote: “Dear England’s best football team, good luck for the game. I hope you win in the finals. I will be shouting for you. I hope you will win the world cup trophy. You have done so well so far, you are the best.”

Harry, 5, said: “I like Harry Kane because he scores all the goals and I’m going to the place where they watch the football.”
