Lordswood manager Darren Anslow says the Southern Counties East League should have postponed all last weekend’s matches.

Four of the seven Premier Division fixtures survived Storm Dennis but Anslow believes it would have made sense to knock them all on the head in light of the conditions.

Lords’ home clash against Sheppey was one of the matches called off following a 10.30am pitch inspection.

Anslow said: “I understand about wanting games played but when you’ve got a storm warning that’s been broadcast pretty much across the whole country then an element of common sense has to come into it.

“The league should have written the weekend off. It’s not done anyone any favours playing in those conditions.

“Hollands & Blair played on the 3G at K Sports but I’m told it was farcical. The wind made it a non-event.

“Blair are going for the top two or three and you want to have the best chance you’ve got of getting a result. We played K Sports the other week and they’re not a bad side, so maybe it would have been a tough game, but it’s still one you’d fancy Blair to win. We all know the weather is a leveller.”

Lordswood are due back in action at Glebe this Saturday.

Glebe were expected to go well this season but are in mid-table with Lords.

“I think they had their money cut two or three weeks ago,” said Anslow.

“Quite a few have left but they’ve still got quality players there. I know Gary Alexander (manager) well and it won’t be an easy game regardless of what he’s got. We had them watched on Tuesday, which was quite handy.”
