Manager Justin Edinburgh is ready to make himself heard on the touchline this season.

Edinburgh was animated during Gills’ goalless draw against Portsmouth on Saturday and felt he needed to be vocal given the lack of experience in his squad.

He said: “It’s only encouragement, it’s guidance, it’s trying to make sure they keep alert and they’re pointed in the right direction.

“We’re going to have to do a bit of that this year because they’re inexperienced.

“But what they have got is energy and pace and endeavour, so that certainly outweighs the lack of experience.”
