Top scorer Alfie May has jumped two levels to join Skrill South leaders Bromley – but could still add to his 18 goals at Chatham.

Chats boss Kevin Watson revealed the clubs have a dual-registration agreement, meaning fans may not have seen the last of the striker.

Watson set up the deal on Friday having been reluctant to lose May to a club at Chatham’s level or below. But he won’t be an automatic choice for Chats should Bromley make him available.

Watson said: “Players who score goals will always attract interest, even from clubs going on stats alone. Some of the offers he had were lucrative but they were from clubs at our level or lower.

“It can turn a player’s head when there’s a ludicrous amount of money on the table but he’s ambitious and I wanted him to progress.

“Bromley work with a small squad and there could be opportunities. I spoke to their manager, Mark Goldberg, and we came up with a dual-registration agreement.

“I’m not sure how much we’ll see of him. We’ll just have to see how it goes. Bromley take priority but if they don’t need him, he’s available for us.

“It depends on how the team are doing but he won’t walk straight back into the side."
