Gillingham have concluded their pre-season schedule by adding in a trip to League 2 Stevenage.

Steve Evans’ side will travel to the Lamex Stadium on Saturday, July 27.

It’s the tenth game for the Gillingham first team to have been arranged, including a behind closed doors match against an unnamed Championship side on Thursday, July 4.

Prices for the Stevenage game have been announced, with adults and concessions charged £12, it's £10 for under-22s and £5 for under-16s.

The Gills players report back from their summer breaks next Thursday (June 27).

Evans has reshaped the schedule since officially taking charge on June 1, adding home games against Charlton, Southend and Millwall, while also scheduling a match at Welling United.

It means there is plenty of opportunity for fans to watch their team before the season kicks off on Saturday, August 3.

Evans is keen to get his men in top condition and believes game-time is vital.

Speaking to the club website, he said: "It is my responsibility to make sure all the players are match fit, sharp and ready to start the season.

“I have purposely added two excellent and tough opponents.

“Further, I have gone with double fixtures over two weekends so that again all the players have a real chance to get themselves selected for our opening day fixture.”

Following their training ground match, the Gills will head to Faversham Town, before taking on fellow Kent sides Folkestone, Dartford and Dover throughout July.

The Gills will also be taking an under-23 team to Chatham’s Bauvill Stadium to help officially unveil the Southern Counties East League club’s newly installed 3G pitch. First team players and management will still be in attendance.
