Coach Onuora leaves Gillingham post

Iffy Onuora has left Priestfield

FIRST team coach Iffy Onuora has left Gillingham after new manager Mark Stimson opted to trim his coaching staff.

The Gills boss admitted Onuora had a lot to offer in the game but felt it was best he had one less voice behind the scenes.

“We have to try and move on and I thank him for what he has handed over to me,” said Stimson. “They are a bunch of players who are ready for the next challenge and I’m going to give them that challenge.

“Myself and Scott have always worked together. Scott is very vocal on the sidelines and I like to say my bit as well and sometimes you can have too many people in charge.

“Players get confused by the information that’s coming to them. You want players to know where you’re coming from and singing off the same hymn sheet.

“I wish Iffy all the best as I imagine he will go on to be a top manager or coach.”
