Gills boss Ady Pennock will have an additional attacking option this weekend.

Bournemouth loanee Harry Cornick has finally joined up with the squad after recovering from injury.

The 21-year-old, who agreed a loan deal with the Gills at the end of the January transfer window, joined up with the squad for training this week.

He has fully recovered from a groin injury and his arrival is a boost for the Gills, who are looking to quickly pull clear from trouble at the foot of League 1.

“It’s a big bonus for us,” said Gills head coach Pennock.

“He is direct, with good pace, his end product is good and I am pleased to get him on board. He is chomping at the bit and it is a plus for us.”

Cornick’s Bournemouth team-mate Joe Quigley – who is also on loan with the Gills – misses out this weekend, however, as he is on international duty.

He will be hoping to feature for the Republic of Ireland under-21s when they face Kosovo in a UEFA Championship qualifier.

While it’s good news for Quigley, it’s not so good for the Gills.

“That’s something I didn’t need,” said Pennock, who already had a threadbare squad.

“That’s another body down but it gives someone else an opportunity, a young one coming through.”
