Braintree finished third in the league last year and lost to Grimsby in the play-offs.

A day later they will be heading back into Essex to face Ryman League side Billericay Town.

Both games will be first-team fixtures, with boss Justin Edinburgh splitting his squad for the double-header.

Gillingham have already confirmed games against Barnet (July 23), Dartford (July 26) and Leyton Orient (July 30) ahead of the new League 1 season, which kicks off on August 6.

The Gills are also planning a training camp back in Le Touquet.
