Gillingham boss Steve Evans felt his side dominated Saturday’s game from start to finish but still went home disappointed.

The Gills could have closed the gap to the League 1 play-off places with a win but were held to a goalless draw.

“It just didn’t happen for us in that final third,” Evans said.

“We didn’t have that little bit of quality that opens the door, it was missing. Olly Lee puts one over the bar when you would normally expect him to hit the target.

“We definitely left two points behind. If you play like that you should win the game and against a good opponent as well, good players.

"They were struggling to contain us, particularly late in the first half and the second half, but we have to score a goal and win the game don’t we?

“We should have won the game. I don't know if anyone from the other sides thinks different but if they did they must have been watching with their back to the play.

“It’s a difficult place to play, the Brewers have a good team, a good manager, they are organised, but they rode their luck.

“I had a go at one or two of them about their decision making in the final third.

"When you are striking them over the bar from 30 yards when you have overloads on either side then it is disappointing. The decision making in the final third wasn’t where it should have been and that’s probably why we are where we are in the table, rather than in the top six.

“We have have got a point, that’s a plus, but it’s a like a bad plus for me, like a D-minus in an exam.”

“I have been to Burton many times, took a battering many times, I have gone away winning some times but this is the first time I have left really down, because we dominated from 3pm.”
