Gillingham are waiting on news as to the severity of Deji Oshilaja’s injury.
The defender limped off at Bradford on Saturday midway through the second half.
Gillingham head coach Ady Pennock is confident that the on-loan Cardiff man will be fine to carry on, and with a lack of defensive cover he’ll be hoping so, too.
Pennock said: “He is a strong old boy, he’ll be okay. We’ll give him a bit of love.”
Oshilaja has been utilised as a left-back in recent weeks but his goals have also been crucial.
His first goal this season came last weekend in a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury and he followed it up with another strike on Saturday, netting the equaliser in the 2-2 draw.
“He can play centre forward,” joked the Gills boss. “He has fantastic feet and it was a very good finish.”
Oshilaja was replaced by Bradley Garmston, who got another 20 minutes under his belt as he recovers from several injury setbacks. He previously featured for 75 minutes in a midweek behind-closed-doors friendly.
It was a tough challenge for the Gills at Bradford defensively but they hung on.
“It was backs against the wall last 15 minutes,” admitted Pennock. “They have fantastic delivery, they have good players who attack the ball well and as a team we defended for our lives. I am chuffed, absolutely chuffed."
