Gillingham’s home game with Charlton Athletic early next month has been postponed.
The Addicks have decided not to play the game on Saturday, September 4 due to having several international call-ups. Clubs can request a postponement if they lose three or more players during the international weekend.
Charlton players Conor Washington (Northern Ireland), Chris Gunter (Wales) and Hady Ghandour (Lebanon) have all received call-ups for their country.
It means the Gills will now have a free weekend and the League 1 fixture will be played at a later date.
Gillingham had been expected to open up their refurbished Factory bar facility that weekend and have been heavily promoting evening entertainment of a Whitney Houston tribute act, which has now been cancelled.
Gills said: "We would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets for the event and showed us great support; we had sold approximately a third of our tickets within two days. Those who did purchase tickets will receive an immediate refund, however these might take a few days to process.
"It is with huge disappointment that we have taken this decision, as it was something we were looking forward to hosting.
"However, we will endeavour to reorganise the event for another date during the 2021/22 season."
