Gillingham will take on Amiens, Dover Athletic and Ipswich as part of their pre-season programme

Gillingham will be taking on Amiens this summer but a game against Spanish side Granada is cancelled

Spanish side Granada, who finished bottom of La Liga this season, were due to visit Priestfield but their English tour has been scrapped.

The Gills will face newly-promoted Amiens in France and host Championship side Ipswich Town as part of their preparations for the new season.

Head coach Ady Pennock will welcome his side back from their summer holidays this time next month and days later will be spending a week of hard graft in Northern Ireland.

Their first pre-season game is against French side Amiens, which takes place on July 7, as part of a week-long training camp in Le Touquet.

Amiens celebrated a thrilling last-gasp promotion at the weekend, winning a place in the top-flight of French football for the first time, courtesy of a stoppage-time goal that saw them rise from sixth to second in Ligue 2.

Gillingham return to England to face Faversham Town away on Tuesday, July 11 to mark the opening of the club's new changing rooms. They then travel to National League side Dover on Saturday, July 15.

A Gills XI will face Chatham Town on Tuesday, July 18 to help them celebrate the installation of new floodlights at their Maidstone Road ground.

Ipswich Town are the visitors to Priestfield on Saturday, July 22 but the home game against Granada at home on the Tuesday night (25) will not now take place and alternative opposition are likely to be sought

Gillingham are due to have a Friday night first-team fixture on July 28 , which is yet to be confirmed, and a day later will send a team to face Canvey Island for their final pre-season match.

The League 1 season begins on Saturday, August 5 and the fixtures for the new campaign will be released on Wednesday, June 21.
