Gillingham's FA Cup replay at Carlisle has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The Gills were due to play their second round replay on Tuesday night in Cumbria but the Brunton Park pitch has fallen victim to the weather.

Temperatures in Carlisle dipped to -11 on Sunday night and to -6 on Monday night, leaving the playing surface with frost-hardened areas, particularly in the shaded sections of the stadium, despite the pitch being under cover since last Friday.

A date for the rearranged game will be announced in due course.

The two teams drew the first game 1-1 at Priestfield earlier this month.

The winners will have a home tie against Sheffield Wednesday in the third round on January 6.
