Gills midfielder Josh Wright will be banned for three games after the club failed in their appeal against his sending-off against Scunthorpe.

The 25-year-old saw red against his former club on Tuesday after a challenge on Irons striker Paddy Madden.

Gills boss Justin Edinburgh revealed after the game that Gillingham would appeal against the decision, however the dismissal was upheld on Friday afternoon and Wright will be unavailable until mid-November at the earliest.

Edinburgh tells the official club programme: "We lose him for three games which is a big blow because he’s been consistently good since he’s come into the team.

"Like I always say though, someone’s misfortune is somebody else’s gain and whoever comes in we will be strong."
