Gills boss Justin Edinburgh and five-goal midfielder Bradley Dack have been nominated for Sky Bet League 1 monthly awards.

Edinburgh’s team went through August unbeaten and recently topped League 1.

He is up against Sheffield United’s Nigel Adkins, Burton’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Walsall’s Dean Smith for the August manager-of-the-month award.

The season started with a 4-0 victory over pre-season title favourites Sheffield United and a 2-0 win against a Wigan team that were also fancied for a successful season.

Those home wins have been backed up by winning at Bradford City and taking points off both Port Vale and Peterborough United.

Walsall are currently top of the table after four wins and a draw in their opening five games.

Dack has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 player-of-the-month award along with Coventry striker Adam Armstrong, Walsall midfielder Sam Mantom and Rochdale defender Jim McNulty.

The attacking midfielder opened his account with a stunning goal in the thrashing of Sheffield United. He also scored in the 1-1 draw at Port Vale and both goals in the 2-0 win against Wigan.

The winners will be announced on Friday, September 4.
