Luke Norris scored a hat-trick for Gillingham’s development team on Wednesday.

Mark Patterson’s side won the Final Third Development League fixture 6-0 against a Peterborough United XI.

Norris' opener came 14 minutes in as first-team manager Justin Edinburgh watched on.

He bagged a second before the break, with an assist from Antonio German, and his hat-trick goal came just before the hour.

Norris is one of several fringe players who Edinburgh has been keeping a close eye on over the last few days.

Peterborough chose not to include any of their first-team players and their XI was mainly selected from their under-17s.

German made it 4-0 for Gills after converting a cross from Brennan Dickenson and the goal-provider got on the scoresheet himself in the 64 minute.

Dickenson’s goal, scored with a close-range finish, was Gills’ fourth goal in a 15 minute spell at the start of the second half.

Greg Cundle wrapped up the win with Gills’ sixth goal.
