Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh is in the market for another striker.

He already has four senior strikers on the books but wants another to boost his options ahead of the new campaign.

“You can never get enough,” said Edinburgh. “We need another one.

“That end is where you win matches and you need to have a different selection.”

Edinburgh has already added Bournemouth forward Joe Quigley to his ranks on loan until January. The 19-year-old featured for the Gills on Wednesday night at Billericay after being rested the evening before at Concord with a tight muscle.

The Gills boss already has Luke Norris, Cody McDonald and Rory Donnelly and he’s looking for someone in the mould of the latter.

Edinburgh said: “We just need to have that one player, pretty similar to Rory, who can play off the shoulder and stretch the team.

“We have Cody, who is a fox in the box, Luke Norris and Joe Quigley.

“We want to get another one that will stretch the game and it’s an option we are looking at.”

Gillingham are on the road again on Saturday when they travel to take on League 2 Barnet, a team managed by former boss Martin Allen.
