Young Gillingham midfielder Ben Chapman has joined Dulwich Hamlet.

Chapman was offered a new deal at the end of the season but decided against taking up the offer.

He's instead opted for a move to a side in National League South, agreeing a one-year deal.

Chapman, 20, rose through the youth ranks at the Gills, signing a pro deal in 2017.

He tweeted: "Buzzing to start this next chapter in my career, can’t wait to get started and meet the boys."

Back in March he had been described as Gills' standout performer in a Kent Senior Cup defeat to Maidstone United.

A first senior appearance for the Gills had come in the 2-0 defeat at Reading in the League Cup, appearing as a second half substitute.

He made two more appearances that season, both in the Football League Trophy. Chapman played another three games in the competition last season.

Despite being offered a new deal at the Gills, he was ready for a new challenge, signaling his intention to leave the club earlier this month.

He tweeted: "Thankyou to the Gills for helping me develop into the player I am today, furthermore all the best to the boys for the upcoming season. Now looking forward to the next chapter."

Chapman spent time on loan at Faversham Town last season.
