Talented waterskier Jake Frame has won the European Cup Series.

The 14-year-old, from Frindsbury, won the final race of the series in Cardiff on Sunday.

Frame, who attends Temple School, won the championship after collecting a combined total of 2,996 points from his best three races out of five he competed in.

His grandfather Barry Frame, who drives Jake’s boat, said: "I’m proud of him. Last year he was in a lower age category and had to come up this year.

"I thought he’d struggle but he’s worked hard over the spring and summer."

The youngster has been involved with water skiing since he was six.

He currently competes in the Euro Kid B category.

Barry added: "We’re taking him out of that category and he’ll be going into the junior section.

"He is now hoping to be selected as a junior for the Great Britain team for the World Championships."

Jake is also competing in the British National Series.

Barry said: "He’s leading at the moment and there is one race to go. He’s punching above his weight in that series. The last race is in Essex a week on Sunday."
