Gillingham boss Steve Lovell has moved quickly to fill the vacant goalkeeping coach position.

Glen Johnson quit as keeper coach after one season in the role.

That position has now been filled by Scott Chalmers-Stevens, who returns to the club after previously coaching Gillingham's first-team keepers under Peter Taylor's tenure.

Maidstone-born Chalmers-Stevens is well respected as a coach in Kent, with the former Watford trainee setting up the successful Pro Soccer Academy.

He has played for a number of teams in Kent, including Dover, Tonbridge Angels and Margate. He has also appeared for Ashford, playing under Steve Lovell at Homelands.

Lovell is delighted to be working alongside Chalmers-Stevens again.

He said: "Scott has been here before and he is a good coach. I have known him a long time and he is a good lad, he fits in with us all and that’s important."
