Elliott List is close to seeing some first team action.

The pacey forward has missed the start of this campaign after picking up an injury towards the end of the pre-season.

He had been impressing during Gills’ friendly matches and manager Steve Lovell is looking forward to welcoming him back.

That could be as early as this Wednesday, for the match against Sunderland.

“I think Elliott might be involved,” he said.

“He is (eager). i will have to let him off the leash at some stage, Wednesday or Saturday, and see what he can do.”

List suffered a shoulder injury in training and last saw action at Eastleigh on July 24, scoring in the 4-0 win, one of his four goals during the summer.

Lovell, meanwhile, admitted young striker Brandon Hanlon was looking tired, as was Billy Bingham, who was replaced by Callum Reilly in the second half.

Both Reilly and Bingham are both recovering from injuries.

The manager said: “Reilly came through again with half an hour, he did alright, he had a shot cleared off the line. Billy Bingham had another good game, he played well, I think he was tiring a bit.

“(Billy) has played three 90 minutes in a year and you have to be careful not to over-stretch him.

“Brandon looked a bit tired, they are young boys and they have played three games in succession at this level, but he will be fine for Wednesday, he just has to learn.”

Luke O'Neill was subbed on Saturday after picking up a booking.

"I could see that going from bad to worse," said the manager.
