Substitute Elliott List was a key ingredient to Gillingham’s turnaround on Friday.

He brought pace to the Gills attack and a new dimension following the withdrawal of leading scorer Tom Eaves.

List set up the opening goal for the hosts, to cancel out Plymouth’s first half lead, and soon after the Gills went infront themselves.

Coach Ian Cox said: “He came on and was involved straight away in the action. He set the tone.”

Tahvon Campbell also came on, replacing Billy Bingham, who was subbed at the break for the second game running.

List and Campbell have both been watching from the sidelines in recent weeks.

Cox said: “They have all been itching to get involved but there are only eleven places that can be taken. Tav has had to be patient along with a few of the others but this is what it is like, this is football.”

List tweeted afterwards: “Wow what a game that turned out to be! Feels great to come from behind to get the most important win!”

Campbell was also pleased to play a part, tweeting: “Great shift from the boys. What a game! Massive three points for us. Onto Monday.”

Scoring Gills’ first goal was Regan Charles-Cook and he too was delighted, adding: “Real character today (Friday). Dug deep and three points for our fans. Three more points to go!”

Charles-Cook now has three goals for the season while Hanlan’s stoppage-time goal sealed the win, taking his season goal tally to seven.

“It is good to see whoever it is score,” Cox said.

“I am chuffed to bits for Regan, who has suffered with niggling injuries and he has had to be patient.“
